Yocto- (international symbol "y") - A SI unit prefix indicating the multiplication of the value by 10⁻²⁴. The symbol of the prefix is written before the symbol of the unit of measurement, for example: yoctosecond is ys.

The name is derived from the ancient Greek word ὀκτώ (októ) meaning "eight", as it is equivalent to the 1000⁻⁸. Adopted in 1991 at the XIX General Conference on Weights and Measures as a supplement to the SI.
